What's this boat motor worth?

I have just come across an ad for a 12hp Nissan Long Shaft outboard motor with electric start.  It runs good, but needs a tune up, or so the ad says.  The guy says to make him an offer, but I'm not sure what its worth.  I currently am using a 1987 15hp Mariner that also needs a little work.  Which motor is better.  What should I offer him for his motor?  Thanks.

Offer him 10 bucks for it...and if he agrees, get the motor and take it in for scrap...probably worth about 40 bucks at the scrapper. Keep the Mariner, much better motor.

what year is the nissian, generally the mariner is a better motor but the years are getting up their, go to boattrader or similar see what other motors are selling for in your area
