Free flowing cat back exhaust (flowmaster) cold air intake, underdrive pulleys just to name a few. Doing the things I listed will give you about 15 to 20 more hp. and sound good.

Yea simple, put in a cold air or ram air intake, chip the ecu, pulleys, camshafts, pistons, headers, exhuast sytem, light weight rims, injectors, ACS tuned springs, stut bars, coilovers, struts, shocks, throttle body, ... etc. Heres a good place to search some stuff. http://www.andysautosport.com/bmw/1999_2003_3_series/

I agree with the first comment

You will invest some hard cash to get very little actual improvement..maybe 12-20 extra horses and it is not worth it.

Just keep your car in mint condition, make the necessary oil changes, use high octane gas and that should do it, to bring out the maximum performance without jeopardizing the factory built configuration. BMW knew very well what to do to make it great in the first place. Trust me.

Ok if you have the money here is a winning ticket. Cold air intake, then a low restriction exhaust, then a chip. Another route is supercharge the car. I supercharged my 93 325is and much more the car runs great. I used Active Auto Werke for the SC kit, www.activeautowerke.com
