Ok, to start this off the 2 turbo models are mitsu engines 4g63 an the 3 non turbo models are dodge 420A engines yes u can make the non turbos turbos. it will cost alot to do tho. as for gass milage the turbos get 250 a tank at 11 gal. for the reason they weight 3400lbs an the non turbos weight 2300lbs. now there are alot of mods for the 4g63 engine since its the top engine to run an its been aroud for along time. the 2g is what i have the only problem with there engines is crankwalk. the 1g dont have that issue. gas milage doesnt matter on them once you start up grading an changing the fuel curve u can gain or loose milage depending on how much power you want to make. a stock 2g awd can make around 300hp with simple mods that would cost you under 1k. if ur getting a manuel trans first thing you want to do is upgrade the clutch becuase the stock one only will hold 250lbs of torque
which isnt but about 300hp or so. before you buy one look around an make sure you find the one you want i know that bill at showdown motorsports has a 1g for sell for about 6k thats loaded an has an engine that can handle a big turbo. iwas thinknig about buying it ,but i would end up loosing too much money on my car that i already invested in mods. an if ur a hond person never but stuff for these cars if they say stage 1 2 3 or whatever on them dsm isnt staged like honda an the other ricer companys we play by numbers not stages.thats how you tell the boys from men. but have fun whatever way you go they are fun an can take more punishment that honda's. oh an to add my friend has a stcok 1g awd 5sp with only a manuel boost controller an guage an he pulls the 1/4 mile in 12.62 no intake or anything else thats fast enought to throw ur friends to the back of ur seats...

I dont know who anyone is on this forum, but almost all of you have no idea about these cars.
1989-1994 Eclipse GST/ GSX Plymouth Laser RS Turbo Talon TSI all have the 4g63t 2.0 liter engine
1989-1994 Eclipse GS/RS Plymouth Laser RS and Talon ESI have the 1.8 liter 4g63 or 2.0 liter 4g63 non turbo
1995-1999 Eclipse Spyder GS-T, GS-T and GSX/ Talon TSI models have 4g63t turbo 2.0 liter
1995-1999 Eclipse GS/RS and Talon ESI models have 2.0 liter 420A non turbo chrysler engine. which is yesa neon engine
1995ish-1999 Eclipse Spyder GS has the 2.4 liter 4g64 non turbo engine
These cars with the exception of the turbo models are slow as hell. period. the turbo models stock are quickbut not nearly as fast as an EVO or WRX/STi. not even close. With bolt on modifications, a new turbo, fuel system modifications, clutch/flywheel upgrade and tuning they can be made to run 12-11 second quarter miles if you mod well and drive better. It is hard to do but can definately be done. In stock form they are reliable in my opinion, but once you mod things can break and will break if you are not smart about it. Also Evo VIII and IX have around what 290 flywheel horsepower and Eclipse turbo models have 210 flywheel, which makes them about 250WHP and 165 ish WHP respectively. a stock eclipe should not beat a stock evo regardless of aerodynamics, idiot. They are good, fun, good looking cars and kn doesnt make a fuel injection kit for anything, they make a line of air filters made specifically for fuel injected cars. you have a lot of research to do

I have a 95 GST that i'm ready to bring back to life. It suffered from the dreded "Crank-Walk" problem about 3 years ago. Even tho it wasn't running I kept the car so I could one day put it back on the street. It is a fun vehicle to drive w/ all kinds of tuning options. In my opinion, YES an eclipse is a GOOD vehicle.
