I dropped my ford escort 2002 in the AMMCO transmission a week ago. I have paid them $800 to turn off the engine check light.

Whenever I pick up my car, the light will turn back on...two times.

I could not use my car for a week now. They didn't call me for the status until I call them and complaint.

What is my right? Can I get money back? $800

They change Oxygen Sensor, Complete Tune up. and something.

But I need to turn off the engin check light in order to pass the smog check.

Please answer my question.

Thank you.

AAMCO is not a good shop.  They charge twice what other, independant shops do for the same repairs.  Take it somewhere else.

AMMCO Transmission   is a RIPOFF  and why you shelled $800 just to turn off the "Engine Check Light is beyond me

Take the car to AutoZone and get the codes read out.  Then go to a reputable independent  shop to get the problem fixed correctly.

Sounds like they may not be sure whats wrong.!! I would complain about bill, and not being able to repair it!!!I think they are having trouble diagnosing the problem!! May be a lack of knowledge too?

Have somebody else run a code check.  If you are near an AutoZone, they run it for free.  If the code shows something related to the tuneup work, AAMCO has to fix it.

Remember the light can come on for a lot of reasons.  I have an Escort.  Unbeknownst to me, my gas cap wasn't tightened properly after a gas fill.  My light came on.  The day after I tightened the cap, it went off.  If you have filled with gas, it can be as simple as that.

My light also came on because of a cracked vacuum hose.  After I replaced the hose, the light went out immediately.

Pay for what was done and then take it to another (dependable) shop and have them take a look.  Those things should only be a matter of hours.  Not even days.  If they can show that the problem was not corrected (and your AAMCO paper work should state what your original problem is), then you can do a stop payment on your credit card, or take them to court if cash was used.  You have to show that they did not do what was needed in the first place.
