i want to cancel i just got with them a few weeks ago but my first payment isnt do yet.

can i get a refund on the down payment i made?

If you cancel, then they will reimburse you the amount for the days you prepaid.

Cancel, and ask them what the prorated refund will be.

you can cancel but its going to be short rated. this means basically you will pay a penalty for canceling it. you will not get your full down payment back.

You'll get a partial refund, as they have provied insurance for you for a few weeks now. In NY state, the only way to cancel it is to buy a replacement policy or turn your plates in, since insurance is mandatory.

I never heard of making a down payment on car insurance. You probably paid for the first 6 months. You can cancel and get a portion back, but why are you canceling? By law you have to carry car insurance.
