Richard Armstrong Senior Vice President, Prestige Building Company

Richard Armstrong serves as the Senior Vice President of the Prestige Building Company’s team. Prestige is the construction arm of The Michaels Organization (TMO), the largest independently owned affordable housing company in the United States with a mix of family, senior, military and student housing presence. Since joining the organization in 2008, Richard has been an integral part of Prestige’s growth, now holding General Contracting licenses in ten states and adding to the list every year. He is a key player in the successful development of plans from conception to construction, interacting within and externally to the organization to insure the owner gets the best product. He has supported all aspects of projects from multiple perspectives as the owner’s representative to the general contractor. He helped develop the Ft Huachuca project interacting with the Army and our own Military Housing division to provide an award
winning development. He has supported our Student Housing projects playing a key role in developing their internal construction management team. Richard continues to work with TMO leadership to help define and mold how Prestige’s future growth and support of the organization will develop. 
Prior to joining Prestige, Mr. Armstrong served in the US Army leaving the service after nearly seven year as a Captain to enter into civilian life. He worked for Devault Contracting as a site development contractor for the next six years being promoted from estimator to project manager and later to operation’s manager. He then spent the next twelve years as an independent contractor servicing HUD, financial institutions,
home owners and corporate associations. Selling his business to reenter the corporate world, he went to work for GMH / College Park for a few years as owner’s representative supporting their capital improvements. One of the last stops before joining TMO was with Philadelphia’s largest independent
developer as an owner’s representative playing a key role with finalizing plans for the Northern Liberties neighborhood.

Mr. Armstrong currently serves on the North Coventry Municipal Authority board and on Metro Club board of directors. He is active in his church and has provided leadership as Chair of Trustees, Chair of Pastor Parish committee and as a finance committee member. He has supported the local Boy Scout troop
and enjoys being part of the community. 
As a Penn State graduate with a BS in Civil Engineering, he enjoys making visits to State College. Richard is engaged in ongoing continuing education to keep current on the multiple state licenses needed for Prestige.
