President Emeritus, Michaels Development Company
After retiring as President of The Michaels Development Company in December 2012, Robert J. Greer was named President Emeritus.
During his 30+ years with Michaels, Mr. Greer oversaw the development/ substantial rehabilitation of thousands of affordable housing units across the country. Under his leadership, Michaels Development Company was ranked the number one affordable housing developer in the nation and became one of country’s largest private-sector owners of affordable housing properties. In 2010, Michaels Development Company was named the Multifamily Development Firm of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders. Mr. Greer also played a key executive role in strategic planning for the family of companies that comprise The Michaels Organization, a fully integrated, full-service residential real estate organization offering development, construction, property and asset management, mortgage financing and tax credit syndication services.
Mr. Greer is a 2010 inductee in the Affordable Housing Hall of Fame and the inaugural recipient of the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association’s Chairman Award for Lifetime Achievement. In 2012, he was named the Multifamily Executive of the Year by Multifamily Executive magazine. Also in 2012, Michael J. Levitt, founder and CEO of The Michaels Organization, named Mr. Greer the organization's "Teammate of the Year." In 2013, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition.
Mr. Greer has participated in leadership roles in the National Association of Home Builders, the Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition, the National Housing and Rehabilitation Association, and the Housing Advisory Group, and is often called on to speak at national conferences. He is a Certified Planner and Architect who received his degree from the Fine Arts school of Miami University of Ohio.
