The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has named The Michaels Organization its 2016 Property Management Company of the Year. The national award is part of NAHB's Pillars of the Industry program, which each year honors superior achievement and the most creative leadership in multifamily housing.
"This prestigious national award recognizes outstanding multifamily housing management and property operations, including financial performance, and a commitment to customer service, resident promotion and retention, and professional training and development opportunities for employees," said John J. O'Donnell, President of The Michaels Organization. "I am so proud to work with teammates who give their best everyday for the benefit of our residents."
In recognizing The Michaels Organization for excellence, NAHB lauded all three of TMO's individual management companies: Interstate Realty Management, Michaels Management Services, and University Student Living Management. Together, the three companies boast an occupancy rate of 98 percent across 370 communities, located across 35 states, the District of Columbia, and the USVI.
Additionally, NAHB recognized the best practices employed by TMO's management companies in serving a diverse range of residents, including almost 6,000 students in purpose-built off- and on-campus housing; 55,000 military service members and their families on 11 military installations, and both families and seniors with a variety of incomes, in a nationwide portfolio of affordable and mixed-income rental communities.
Both IRM and MMS have each earned the Accredited Management Organization designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management, an elite certification signifying a commitment to industry best practices and the highest ethical standard. Earlier this year, MMS was named the AMO firm of the year by IREM, and IRM was NAHB’s Property Management Company of the Year award winner in 2012.
The award was presented at a luncheon ceremony held in January in Orlando during NAHB's International Builders Show.
