The Michaels Organization and the Atlanta Housing Authority held a hard hat celebration at
in December at Piedmont Road High-rise to publicly mark the beginning of the renovation
and modernization of the existing AHA-owned property, one of 11 AHA-properties that serve members of
Atlanta’s large low-income senior and disabled population.
The Piedmont Road High-rise, located in the heart of Buckhead, has 208 units. Eight residents volunteered to be permanently relocated to other AHA properties during the renovation process. The vacated units will provide temporary housing for remaining residents as their units are improved.
“Preserving affordable housing for all Atlanta residents who need it is a priority to us at AHA,” said Catherine Buell, president and CEO of the Atlanta Housing Authority. “The renovations at the Piedmont Road High-rise are part of our strategic plan, which focuses on offering quality affordable housing to our senior and disabled residents, as well as focusing on initiatives that allow them to age in place.”
“It is a privilege to partner with such a forward-thinking housing authority that shares our vision of high quality, sustainable affordable housing, and we look forward to serving the residents of this city for many years to come,” said Milton Pratt, senior vice president of The Michaels Development Company, said, “This collaborative project is proof that when we pool our talents, Atlanta reaps the benefit.”
