On Wednesday, April 11th, The Michaels Organization property Ascension Manor hosted a Philabundance food pick-up for its senior residents and presented representatives from Philabundance with a check, honoring their long partnership with the non profit as part of their mission to lift lives.
Philabundance is a Philadelphia-based non-profit that provides low-income families in Philadelphia with vital food supplies and Ascension Manor has been a recipient of Philabundance’s generous work for many years. This month, Philabundance distributed 85 boxes of food and residents were thrilled to pick up this generous donation at the ceremony. At the ceremony, Milt Pratt presented Philabundance with a check for $3,020 in funds raised to support the non-profit and spoke about Michaels’ longstanding efforts in Philadelphia. Community Manager John Siwak also spoke about his pride for the community.
The food donations are naturally in high demand, however staff at Ascension Manor has devised a lottery system to give all residents an equal chance at receiving donations. If a resident doesn’t have the chance to receive a box of food one month, they are guaranteed to receive one at the next month’s food pickup event. This is a very important program for the senior residents at Ascension Manor that provides them with vital food supplies and is the product of a long and valued partnership with Philabundance.
