New Amenity-Rich Affordable Housing Community Opens in Fairfax County, Va.

New Amenity-Rich Affordable Housing Community Opens in Fairfax County, Va.

The Michaels Organization, a national leader in residential real estate, is proud to highlight its latest affordable housing community in Fairfax County, The Lodge at Autumn Willow – a beautifully designed, sustainable community comprising 150 units across a two-building development with rich amenities, serving residents with household incomes ranging from 30 to 60 percent of the Area Median Income.

Designed by architects from award-winning design firm KTGY, Autumn Willow is inspired by the area’s natural wooded setting, with the goal of connecting residents to nature. The community has a relaxed, lodge-inspired feel, featuring warm wood, large windows, and front and rear porches that frame stunning views of the surrounding woods.

“The Lodge at Autumn Willow offers residents affordable living in a peaceful, natural setting with convenient access to nearby neighborhood amenities,” said Jonathan Lubonski, Executive Vice President of Development for The Michaels Organization. “We’re grateful for our architectural partner KTGY for designing this beautiful community, ensuring our residents have access to a premium housing solution at an affordable price level.”

At the heart of Autumn Willow is a central amenity space that brings together a library, fitness room, community kitchen, lounge areas, and an on-site leasing office. Outside, residents can also enjoy a covered terrace, grilling stations, and on-site walkways, surrounded by a public park and access to Fairfax County Park Authority trails.

Committed to sustainable design, the community meets requirements for Zero Energy Ready, EarthCraft, and Energy Star Certified programs.

“We’re thrilled to unveil a design that harmonizes with Autumn Willow’s beautiful wooded grounds, using cross-laminated timber to bring biophilic warmth,” said Kamran Charmsaz, KTGY Principal. “In partnering with The Michaels Organization, we were able to create an affordable, sustainable, and inviting community where residents can enjoy the surrounding landscape.”

Apartments at Autumn Willow range from 696 to 1,163 square feet and are primarily one-bedroom units. Fifteen of the units are equipped to house residents with disabilities.

With easy access to I-66 and SR-29, as well as a variety of nearby shopping, dining, and recreational options, residents can enjoy both the tranquility of a wooded retreat and the convenience of urban amenities.

Residents of Autumn Willow are also eligible to apply for scholarships from The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation, a non-profit affiliate of Michaels that offers academic scholarships for education at any accredited college, university, or vocational school throughout the country.

The Lodge at Autumn Willow offers rent-restricted apartments, meaning that applicants must meet specific income requirements. Prospective residents can learn more about eligibility, current move-in specials, and submit their applications on the community’s website.
