The Michaels Organization Acquires Weyant Green Apartments, Preserving 51 Affordable Senior and Family Homes in Highland Falls, New York

The subsidized senior and family community marks Michaels’ ninth subsidized housing acquisition in two years

CAMDEN, N.J., Aug. 12, 2026 – The Michaels Organization, a national leader in residential real estate and one of the country’s largest privately held owners of affordable housing, is pleased to announce that it acquired Weyant Green Apartments, a 51-unit affordable community in Highland Falls, New York.

Forty of the property’s 51 apartment homes carry a senior housing designation, with the remaining homes serving families; every resident household is protected from market rent pressure by a Project Based Section 8 contract.

The community sits along the corridor serving the United States Military Academy at West Point, roughly 54 miles north of New York City. Michaels will bring its full-service platform to the property, spanning investment management, construction management, HUD compliance, and property management.

The transaction is the ninth subsidized housing community Michaels has acquired in the last two years, extending an acquisitions strategy focused squarely on preserving deeply affordable, subsidized housing nationwide.

“Every one of these 51 homes represents a senior or a family who can stay in a home they can afford,” said Mohsin Azmi, Vice President at The Michaels Organization, who led the acquisition and capitalization of Weyant Green. “That is what lifting lives looks like in practice.”

“Our mission is creating communities that lift lives, and acquisitions like Weyant Green are one of the most direct ways we deliver on it,” said Matthew Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer of The Michaels Organization. “Residents here gain an owner with the platform to operate at a high standard willing to go out a little further to Lift Lives.”

Michaels acquires project-based Section 8, LIHTC, Section 515, RAD, and other subsidized and rent-restricted communities in all 50 states, as both single assets and portfolios. The company works particularly closely with family offices, nonprofits, housing authorities, and small to mid-size private owners who are approaching retirement, working through generational transition, or reaching the end of a compliance or extended use period, and who want certainty that their residents and their on-site teams will be well cared for after closing.

Owners considering a sale, a recapitalization, a joint venture, or a portfolio disposition are encouraged to contact Kunal Chothani, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions at The Michaels Organization, at [email protected]. Michaels reviews off-market opportunities directly and can move to a decision quickly, without a broker process, when a seller prefers confidentiality.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
