Kristy Calo Promoted to Vice President of Human Resources at The Michaels Organization

The Michaels Organization, a national leader in residential real estate that has been pioneering solutions to the nation’s housing challenges for more than 50 years, has named Kristy Calo as its new Vice President of Human Resources. Kristy succeeds Donna Jack in this position, who will retire in January 2024 after 12 years with the organization.

“We are thrilled to name Kristy to this important position and look forward to her continued success in this new chapter,” said Mark Morgan, Chief Operating Officer of The Michaels Organization. “Her vast and diversified experience in Human Resources, along with her track record as a creative, dynamic, and strategic relationship builder will continue to lead Michaels’ Human Resources function into the future.”

Kristy joined Michaels in 2019 as Director of Talent Acquisition. In this role, she successfully established and built Michaels’ Talent Acquisition function in addition to the implementation and execution of various HR initiatives regarding benefits, talent management, and compensation.

Kristy has also worked collaboratively with managers throughout Michaels’ areas of expertise to source, recruit, hire, and retain talented candidates in line with Michaels’ culture and vision while providing a positive experience for candidates and internal key stakeholders.

Earlier this year, Kristy was a key contributor in Michaels’ Harmony Housing acquisition, the largest acquisition of affordable housing in the organization’s 50-year history.

Kristy has worked in Human Resources and recruiting for over 22 years for various organizations including American Water, South Jersey Industries, Cardone Industries, and Miramar Global Executive Search. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Lynn University and holds a PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification in addition to certificates in leadership and management and diversity and military veteran recruiting.
