The National Association of Home Builders Announced the Win at a Virtual Ceremony on March 4th
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) has announced that The Michaels Organization, a national leader in residential development with full-service capabilities in development, management, finance and construction, has been named Multifamily Development Firm of the Year. This is the second time NAHB has honored Michaels with this prestigious award.
The recognition was announced on March 4th via a live virtual award ceremony that celebrated winners from all across the country. Development firm entries were evaluated on the overall quality of projects that have been developed in the previous three years; innovative development strategies and practices; ability to overcome obstacles; and success in achieving the company’s vision and goals. The awards judge recognized Michaels’ which included closing 11 new development deals, opening 31 new properties, and welcoming more than 12,500 new residents to its communities in 2020, despite the Global Pandemic .
“We are especially proud to be receiving this award on the tailend of a pandemic,” said CEO of Michaels, John O’Donnell. “Our teammates went above and beyond to adapt and persevere during 2020 and all of our successes as a company can be attributed to everyone’s hard work.”
The recognition by NAHB comes at the conclusion of a successful awards season for Michaels, with over 14 national and regional wins for the organization as a whole. Michaels also won this award in 2010 and in 2019, the company was named NAHB’s Property Management Firm of the Year.
The Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards highlight creative development concepts, innovative financing strategies, great design, and superior management and marketing in the apartment and condo marketplace. The Pillars awards are held in high esteem by top-level multifamily development companies, management firms and experts in the field.
