Development Will Offer Campus Adjacent Housing to Students, Staff and Employees of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center

Michaels Student Living, the student housing development and management company of The Michaels Organization, broke ground today at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center after recently announcing financial closing. This $102 million project will deliver 579 beds, catering to the needs and demands of graduate medical students and staff in the city.

Located in a medical service district in New Orleans, the project is designed to serve the community of medical students and employees who are seeking both proximity to school and an affordable housing option. The LSUHSC will feature studio, 1, 2 and 3-bedroom units on 1.15 acres of land. Complete with seven upper floor lounge studies with sweeping views of downtown New Orleans, a ground floor space including a fitness room, lounge, meeting space, study pods and a courtyard containing a pool and BBQ area, the development will offer the tenant base much needed quality housing stock with modern finishes and amenities but with pricing considerate of students budgets.

“We are excited to be working with LSUHSC to deliver an affordable, high-end community for their growing enrollment of students and staff,” said Ned Williams, Michaels Student Living Senior Vice President.

This will be The Michaels Organization latest project in New Orleans and is set to open in August of 2022. Along with Michaels, a national leader in residential real estate, with full service capabilities in development, property management, finance and construction, the development team will include Stantec Architecture and Core Construction.
