Sherri Farris and Carlos Proano Promoted

October 6, Camden, NJ.--The Michaels Organization has announced two promotions within its Michaels Management Services for Military Living. Sherri Farris, previously a Vice President in charge of Michaels Management, Military Living for the East Coast, has been named Executive Vice President, reporting directly to the company’s president, Ronald Hansen. Carlos Proano has been promoted from Vice President to Senior Vice President.

“Our team has always gone above and beyond, but their commitment during this unprecedented time of the pandemic has been extraordinary,” said Hansen. “I congratulate both Sherri and Carlos on their well-deserved promotions and am extremely grateful to have both of them on our senior leadership team."

Farris, who joined Michaels in 2008, has overseen the growth and expansion of Michaels’ military housing portfolio. During her time, she’s had responsibility for over 200 employees, managing over 7,000 privatized homes, at four military installations. She has been credited with reaching record occupancy at Fort Leavenworth during her time as Community Director and was instrumental in coordinating strategic programs when renovating and/or constructing new homes.

With Sherri’s transition from Vice President to Executive Vice President, she will now oversee all operations, facility, and community management and execution efforts on a national basis within Michaels’ Military housing portfolio, both those owned by Michaels, and those managed for third-party clients.

Proano, who transitioned to The Michaels Organization when Michaels took over management of four California military housing projects in 2015, was instrumental in a successful transition between property managers.  He serves as an integral member of the leadership team of Michaels, his primary responsibility as Senior Vice President includes overseeing the property management operations of six military housing installations with more than 8,000 homes and a workforce of over 250 employees across three states. Prior to joining Michaels, Carlos served 10 years in the Military which included service in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Joint Guardian.

Despite COVID-19’s impact on the housing industry, Michaels has continued to push forward and celebrate the hard work from those who lift lives. The company is confident that these promotions demonstrate its teammates’ never ending determination to serve Michaels' mission of Lifting Lives, even through the most trying of times.
