The Michaels Organization, a national leader in residential real estate, is proud to announce that Raoul Amescua has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Development.
Amescua brings over 25 years of experience in real estate development and finance to his role. Throughout his career, he has had a proven track record of successfully developing large-scale housing projects with the public-private partnership (P3) delivery models and executing affordable housing projects with public housing authorities, on-campus student housing with colleges and universities, and workforce and market-rate housing.
With this transition, Amescua will now oversee Michaels’ affordable, workforce, student, and market-rate multifamily housing development activities in California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, Utah, and Hawaii.
Amescua first joined Michaels in 2019 and previously served as Michaels’ Regional Vice President and, before that, Vice President. As Vice President, Amescua led Michaels’ public-private partnerships with higher education institutions in California and was Michaels’ lead for off-campus student housing development in the state.
Before joining Michaels, Amescua was Executive Director of Real Estate Services and Asset Management at the University of California, Riverside where he led the planning, procurement, negotiations, and development of multiple P3 student housing and dining projects.
Amescua earned his B.A. from the University of California, San Diego, and Master of Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, the National Association of Home Builders, and the California Building Industry Association.
