Michaels Selected To Expand Affordable Housing In Chicago

FILED TO: What's New

The Michaels Organization has been selected to bring a new 63-unit affordable housing development to the City of Chicago in East Garfield Park in collaboration with KMW Communities, TRUdelta Real Estate, and architects Brooks + Scarpa and Studio Dwell

The new development, Hub 32, will be built on vacant city land next to the Kedzie Avenue Green Line station in East Garfield Park.

The 78,000 square foot development will comprise 14 one-, 34 two-, and 15 three-bedroom apartments for residents earning up to 60% of the area median income. Residents will have access to ground-floor retail and rooftop amenities in addition to 16 outdoor parking spots and a public plaza to be used for outdoor dining and community gathering.

When complete, the transit-oriented Hub 32 will serve as a much-needed affordable housing development with integrated commercial spaces that will serve to launch this corner in East Garfield Park on a community-based development trajectory.
