Impact Felt Coast to Coast and in Camden, NJ, Home to Michaels’ Headquarters
CAMDEN, NJ – September 26, 2025 – The Michaels Organization, a national leader in residential real estate, successfully held its third annual National Day of Service on Friday, September 19. The company mobilized more than 2,500 teammates across 600 communities in 39 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands – making a collective impact in neighborhoods where Michaels owns and manages housing.
While the initiative spanned the nation, its effects were especially meaningful in Camden, New Jersey, where Michaels is headquartered. Over 100 teammates dedicated their day to serving the local community at multiple sites throughout the city, revitalizing community spaces, supporting nonprofits, and engaging directly with residents.
“Seeing our teammates come together coast to coast to serve their communities is truly inspiring,” said Mark Morgan, CEO of The Michaels Organization. “And for us in Camden, this work is deeply personal. Our roots in this city run deep, and our commitment to Camden grows stronger every year.”
In Camden, volunteers participated in a wide variety of service projects, including:
-
Beautification and maintenance of local parks and public spaces
-
Renovations and improvements for nonprofit organizations
-
Organizing donations and community supplies
-
Hosting resident-focused events and activities
Local partners included the City of Camden, the Kroc Center, Homeward Bound, Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Center, Cathedral Kitchen, Authentic Minds, and LUCY Outreach. Camden City Council members also joined a kickoff breakfast for volunteers, underscoring the strong collaboration between Michaels and city leadership.
Nationwide, Michaels teammates mirrored this spirit of service by organizing clothing drives, restocking food pantries, hosting resident events, and revitalizing public spaces. Each act reflected Michaels’ core value of Doing Well by Doing the Extraordinary, ensuring that both residents and neighborhoods benefit directly from these efforts.
“Our National Day of Service is a powerful reminder that community investment doesn’t stop at housing,” said Matt Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer. “It’s about empowering our teammates to positively impact the lives of residents and neighbors, every single day.”
Since its creation in 2023, the National Day of Service has provided thousands of volunteer hours to communities across the country. Beyond this annual event, Michaels continues to invest in residents through scholarships, partnerships with nonprofits, and workforce development initiatives, reinforcing a long-term dedication to uplifting communities nationwide.
“For over two decades, we’ve partnered with the Housing Authority of Camden and countless local organizations to revitalize neighborhoods and expand opportunities for residents,” Morgan added. “Serving Camden and communities nationwide is at the core of who we are, and we look forward to building on this tradition for years to come.”
