282 Residents of Michaels-Owned and Managed Military and Affordable Housing Communities Receive College Scholarships for the 2025/2026 Academic Year
CAMDEN, N.J., JUNE 19, 2025 — The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation, a privately funded nonprofit affiliate of The Michaels Organization, announced today it has awarded a total of $2,469,500 in academic scholarships to 282 residents living in affordable and military housing communities owned and managed by Michaels throughout the country.
“The Educational Foundation is a true reflection of our promise to Lift Lives,” said Mark Morgan, Michaels’ Chief Executive Officer. “Each year, we’re given the opportunity to watch our residents take a step toward furthering their education and accomplishing their dreams– and what an incredible honor it is to play a small role in that success.”
The 2025 class of Michaels Scholars represents a remarkable group of individuals pursuing a wide range of majors and areas of study.
Among this year’s first-time recipients is Claire Anderson, a resident at the Villages at Fort Irwin in California, and a first-year student in Lewis and Clark College’s Pre-Med program. Anderson will use her award to begin her journey toward becoming a physical therapist or pediatrician.
Returning scholars include Crystal Dove, a resident of Hartford Village Apartments in Medford, NJ, and a first-generation college student at Penn State Abington. With her scholarship, Dove will continue to work toward her degree in Business and hopes to one day open her own business.
The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation provides grants to residents to use toward their pursuit of higher education at any accredited college, university, or vocational training program in the nation. Scholarships are awarded annually, and students may reapply each year of their undergraduate education for continuing grants.
All foundation funds are raised through voluntary contributions by corporations, companies, families, private trusts, and individuals throughout The Michaels Organization’s business network. All donations are then matched $2 for every $1 by The Michaels Organization’s Founder and Chairman, Michael J. Levitt, and his wife, Pat Levitt.
This year’s $2.4 million award is the Foundation’s largest donation to date and brings the all-time amount awarded to residents of Michaels’ communities since 1991 to a collective $19 million across programs for affordable and military communities, as well as student housing communities.
The Foundation’s Student Living Scholarship, designed specifically for residents of Michaels’ student living communities, will open for applications later this year.
