182 Residents of Michaels-Owned and Managed Student Living Communities Receive College Scholarships for the 2025/2026 Academic Year
The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation, a privately funded nonprofit affiliate of The Michaels Organization, announced today it has awarded a record-breaking total of $400,000 in academic scholarships to 182 residents living in student living housing communities owned and managed by Michaels throughout the country.
“Michaels is committed to supporting our residents beyond just housing,” said Mark Morgan, Chief Executive Officer of The Michaels Organization. “The Educational Foundation enables us to invest in their education and future success, and it’s what our mission of Lifting Lives is all about.”
This year’s Student Living Scholars represent residents from 14 of Michaels’ Student Living and market-rate housing communities nationwide, all studying a variety of subjects.
Among this year’s recipients are Adriana Veizaga from Lynn University and Benjamin Lara from Texas A&M University. Veizaga is earning her M.S. in Strategic Communication and is the first in her family to attend school outside her home country of Bolivia. With a B.A. in Advertising and Public Relations already under her belt, Veizaga plans to leverage both degrees to continue pursuing her dream of sharing stories through a screen. Lara, a sophomore International Affairs major and Arabic minor, aspires to build stability across the Middle East. After graduation, he would like to work at an embassy to ensure civilian stability in other countries.
The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation provides grants to residents for higher education at any accredited college, university, or vocational training program in the nation. Scholarships are awarded annually, and students may reapply each year of their undergraduate education for continuing grants.
All foundation funds are raised through voluntary contributions by corporations, companies, families, private trusts, and individuals throughout The Michaels Organization’s business network. All donations are then matched $2 for every $1 by The Michaels Organization’s Founder and Chairman, Michael J. Levitt, and his wife, Pat Levitt.
Earlier this year, the Foundation awarded $2.4 million to residents of Michaels’ affordable and military housing communities across the country. This year’s Student Living awards bring the grand total of scholarships awarded to Michaels residents through The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation since 1991 to a collective $19,783,600 across all programs.
Applications for the Foundation’s affordable and military program for the 2026/2027 academic year will open in February of the new year.
