More than $2 Million in Scholarships has been awarded so far to residents of Michaels Military and Affordable Housing Communities
Camden, NJ – September 30, 2025 – The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation has concluded a record-breaking year of fundraising for its Resident Scholarship program, through direct private donations, its annual Golf Classic, and the $2 for $1 match for all donations contributed by our founder Michael Levitt and his wife Pat.
“Our Founder and Chairman Michael J. Levitt always says that education is the most effective investment we can make,” said Mark Morgan, CEO of The Michaels Organization. “We are so grateful to all those who have supported this effort now for more than 30 years — and each year, we have more and more generous supporters.”
Since its inception, The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation has awarded over $19 million in scholarships to residents of Michaels’ affordable, military, and student living communities. Earlier this year alone, the Foundation awarded $2.4 million to students across Michaels’ affordable and military housing portfolios. Scholarship recipients, whether traditional students or adult learners, are eligible to receive up to $10,000 annually, which can be used toward tuition and other educational expenses at accredited colleges, universities, or vocational training programs. Recipients can reapply each year of their education.
In addition to direct donations from a wide range of business partners, vendors, and individuals, the Foundation hosts an annual Golf Classic, as its major fundraiser. This year’s sold-out event raised the highest amount ever in the Foundation’s history.
During this year’s outing, guests were moved by the inspiring words of Steven Wallace, a former Michaels resident and scholarship recipient who received more than $23,000 in support over four years. Wallace graduated from Gwynedd Mercy University with a degree in Business Management and credited the Foundation with making his education possible.
More scholarship awards will be forthcoming this fall, as applications are currently open for the Michaels Student Living Scholarship, available to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students residing at Michaels-owned or managed student communities. The deadline to apply is October 17, 2025. Interested students can learn more and apply here. Student Living Scholarship funds won this year will be applied to the student’s spring semester.
The success of this year’s fundraising effort was made possible by the extraordinary generosity of our sponsors. We extend our deepest gratitude to our Presenting Sponsor, who wishes to remain anonymous, for a remarkable $150,000 contribution that, through a matching structure, resulted in an incredible $450,000. We are also grateful to our Diamond Sponsors – BDO USA, Levine Staller, Berkadia, and Conner Strong & Buckelew; Platinum Sponsors – Barclays, RealPage, M&T Bank, EisnerAmper, Mohawk Group, and D.F. Pray; Gold Sponsors – RestoreCore, DOZ, PNC Real Estate, Empire Corp of TN, Applegate & Thorne-Thomsen, Ballard Spahr, InDepth Environmental, and Energy CX; along with all additional sponsors who helped make this event extraordinary.
