The Michaels Organization Hosts Ceremonial Ribbon Cutting for First New Electrical Vehicle Charger Installed at Joint Base Andrews

Chief Master Sergeant Noah Bliss celebrated the new EV charger installed in his home garage at Joint Base Andrews with a small ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event was attended by Vice Wing Commander Colonel Parkin Bryson and representatives from TRO Energy Services and The Michaels Organization, which owns and manages Liberty Park, the privatized family housing at Joint Base Andrews.

“We are excited to be at the forefront of providing these at-home charging solutions to our Military residents and look forward to the continued partnership with TROES  to expand these services across our entire Military portfolio” said Zach Allen, Michaels’ Director of Investment Management.

The charging station was provided to the Bliss family at their request and installed by TROES at no charge. TROES will be responsible for maintaining the charger station. The Bliss family and others with electric vehicles who request a charging station then use a convenient app to choose a payment plan for the electricity used for charging.

The Level 2 EV charging equipment that is being installed, tested, and will be maintained by TROES, is a response to resident requests, as well as Michaels’ mission to invest in high-quality sustainability at all of its properties.

“It’s an honor to provide this amenity at Liberty Park for our military residents and their families to utilize,” said Cindy Peterson, Community Director at Liberty Park. “We appreciate the work TROES and the military are doing with Michaels to ensure our residents have convenient and sustainable resources,” Peterson said.

Liberty Park’s new EV charging stations represent Michaels’ efforts to promote cleaner and more cost-effective transportation solutions to every military installation in its portfolio. Michaels also unveiled the same chargers at MacDill Airforce Base in Tampa, FL last month, and the program will be available at all 11 military installations across the country, where Michaels manages the family housing. Michaels has been a Department of Defense private sector partner since 2004.
