The Michaels Organization Hosts Ceremonial Ribbon Cutting For First New Electrical Vehicle Charger Installed At Macdill Airforce Base

In partnership with TRO Energy Solutions, Michaels plans to provide EV Chargers at all its military installations.
MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL, Feb 26 -- Airman Connor Willis and his family, who are the first to enjoy an EV Charger installed in their carport on base housing at MacDill Air Force Base, marked the occasion with a ribbon-cutting at a small ceremony attended by Colonel Jason Parker, Commander of the 6th Mission Support Group, and representatives of The Michaels Organization, which owns and manages the family housing on the base.
The charging station was provided to the family and installed by TROES at no charge. TROES will be responsible for maintaining the charger station. The Willis family and others with electric vehicles can request a charging station; residents then use a convenient app to choose a payment plan for the electricity used for charging.
The Level 2 EV charging equipment that is being installed, tested, and will be maintained by TROES, is a response to resident requests, as well as Michaels’ mission to invest in high-quality sustainability at all of its properties.
“We are thrilled to provide this convenience to our families living at Harbor Bay at MacDill, and we encourage all those who currently own or are considering the purchase of an electric vehicle to take advantage of this service,” said Kurt Wicker, Community Director at Harbor Bay. “We are also grateful to Colonel Parker for his dedication to enriching the lives of military families with programs such as this. We thank him for joining us today,” Wicker said.
The new EV charging stations represent the first in a series of efforts to promote cleaner and more cost-effective transportation solutions to every military installation in Michaels’ portfolio.
Michaels currently owns and manages the privatized family housing at 11 military installations across the country which includes more than 18,000 privatized military homes from coast to coast and has been a Department of Defense private sector partner since 2004.
