The Michaels Organization Interns Bring Joy to Camen’s LUCY Outreach

Interns from The Michaels Organization participated in a volunteer day at LUCY Outreach in Camden, NJ, partnering with the “Littles Camp” to support youth ages 7-28+.

The Michaels Organization, proudly shares that 17 of its summer interns participated in a volunteer day at LUCY Outreach in Camden, NJ, partnering with the “Littles Camp.” This initiative, designed to support Camden County youth ages 7-28+ and their families of low income, focuses on five key areas of youth development: educational, social, cultural, leadership, and service-oriented programming.

Returning by popular demand after last year’s successful event, the interns embodied Michaels’ core value of “laugh anytime,” bringing cheer and joy to the children. The “Littles Camp” was created to engage and include the younger siblings of current youth participants, aiming to improve academic and social/emotional skills, and promote social behavioral involvement among youth ages 7-11 years old through creative and engaging educational programming and trips.

“We’re grateful to partner with Michaels in coordinating STEM-related activities for our annual Littles Camp. These educational sessions instill confidence, resolve and leadership qualities which empower youth in becoming community leaders. Volunteer engagement is crucial to staff support, and we appreciate these collaborations to overall best serve the local youth, families and community,” said Kate King, Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator with LUCY Outreach.

During the event, interns facilitated a variety of activities, including an airplane building challenge, a team ring toss, and a “cloud dough” scientific experiment. These activities not only provided fun and excitement, but also encouraged teamwork, creativity, and scientific curiosity among the participants.

“We are incredibly proud of our interns for rising to the challenge and displaying remarkable leadership skills,” said Meghan Farnan, Talent Acquisition Manager at The Michaels Organization. “Their efforts have made a significant impact in the lives of these young children, helping us fulfill our mission to Lift Lives.”

The Michaels Organization extends its heartfelt thanks to all the interns who participated and looks forward to continuing this meaningful partnership with LUCY Outreach in the future.
