Michaels Celebrates The Next Generation of Leaders
On Thursday, July 24th, The Michaels Organization proudly participated in the second annual Downtown Camden Intern Day, an initiative spearheaded by the Downtown Camden Young Professionals, a program of the Camden Business Improvement District (CBID) and the Camden Special Services District (CSSD).
Held at Michaels’ national headquarters in Camden, NJ, the event welcomed over 140 interns from 12 corporate, government, and nonprofit organizations located throughout the downtown area. Designed to foster professional growth, community building, and career exploration, the day was filled with opportunities for interns to network, exchange ideas, and deepen their connection to the Camden business community.
“Through the CSSD/Camden Business Improvement District’s Young Professionals Initiative, including the Young Professionals Council (YPC), we are excited to host events like Downtown Camden Intern Day that engage young professionals and provide platforms for collaboration,” said Raymond Romo, Director of Operations for the CSSD/CBID. “The continued support from partners such as The Michaels Organization makes these impactful gatherings possible and helps build a culture of connection and civic pride.”
A key feature of the day was the “How I Started My Career” panel, where six early-career professionals from local Camden-based organizations shared their personal career journeys, challenges, and advice. Representing The Michaels Organization was Courtney Zaccardi, Director of Corporate Marketing and a leader of the company’s Young Professionals Network Employee Resource Group.
“It was incredibly rewarding to share my journey with such a bright group of interns,” said Zaccardi. “Being able to reflect on both the wins and the challenges I’ve experienced – and hear from other young professionals doing the same – was energizing. It’s clear Camden is becoming a true hub of opportunity for rising talent.”
As a Camden-based company, The Michaels Organization is proud to support initiatives like the Downtown Camden Young Professionals Council and remains deeply committed to empowering future leaders through mentorship, professional development, and community engagement.
