Affordable Living

Completed in 2006, Mahalia Place is one part of the Legends South comprehensive neighborhood revitalization plan. The vision included integrating Mahalia Place, along with each of the Legend South’s other distinct developments, into one seamless, harmonious neighborhood. The creation of an open green space, the addition of pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, and provisions for 1:1 parking have brought comfortable living back to the community as well as continued investment. Mahalia Place offers 54 public housing units, 44 affordable tax credit units, and 12 market-rate units.

Additionally, there are two parks and several public schools within walking distance of the Legends South site, as well as retail stores, churches, and easy access to public transportation.
