Residents at All Michaels-Managed Military and Affordable Communities are Encouraged to Submit Applications before the April 15th deadline.

The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation, a privately-funded, non-profit affiliate of The Michaels Organization, has announced it is now accepting applications for the 2024/2025 academic school year. The scholarship is open to all residents living at affordable and military housing communities managed by Michaels who are pursuing higher education at a university, college, or trade/professional school.

“Each year our Michaels scholars represent a remarkable group of individuals, from first-generation college students to nontraditional students re-entering academia, and everything in between,” said Michaels’ Chief Executive Officer John J. O’Donnell. “We could not be more proud to invest in their academic success and to continue fulfilling our promise of Lifting Lives.”

The Michaels Organization Educational Foundation has assisted residents in reaching their academic goals, since 1991 when Michaels’ founder Michaels J. Levitt created the foundation, offering the first such scholarship programs in the affordable housing industry. When Michaels expanded its portfolio to include privatized military housing, the program expanded to include those residents as well. In the 33 years since, the foundation has bestowed more than $14 million in scholarships to Michaels’ residents.

Scholarships are awarded annually, and students may reapply each year of their education for continuing grants. Any resident with a high school diploma or equivalent is encouraged to apply.

All foundation funds are raised through voluntary contributions by corporations, companies, families, private trusts, and individuals throughout The Michaels Organization’s business network. All donations are then matched $2 for every $1 by The Michaels Organization’s Founder and Chairman, Michael J. Levitt, and his wife, Pat Levitt.

In 2023 alone, over $2 million was awarded to more than 300 students across the nation.

Applications are available now on Michaels’ website and from the management offices at Michaels’ affordable and military housing communities. The application process will remain open until Monday, April 15, 2024. Letters with the outcome status of all applicants will be placed in the USPS Mail on June 12, 2024.

A separate program, designed specifically for residents of Michaels’ student living communities, will open later this year.
